Frag Racks and Accessories buying guide
Coral frag racks made for Australian reef tanks
A well-positioned frag rack gives new coral frags a secure place to settle while keeping them easy to inspect, move and maintain. Reef Ahoy frag racks are designed and 3D-printed in Brisbane for marine aquariums, with practical mounting options for different tank layouts.
Whether you are acclimating a recent coral purchase, organising a growing collection or keeping frags away from sand and rockwork, a dedicated coral frag holder makes placement more predictable.
Magnetic or suction-cup mounting?
Choose the mount that suits your aquarium and how often you expect to move the rack.
- Magnetic frag racks provide a firm hold and can be repositioned from outside the aquarium. Our standard magnetic mounts are intended for aquarium glass up to 15 mm thick. Contact us before ordering for thicker panels.
- Suction-cup frag racks are a straightforward option for compatible clean, smooth glass. They are easy to remove when you want to clean the rack or change your aquascape.
Always select the mounting option listed for the specific product and check the product details before ordering.
Choosing the right coral frag rack
Start with the number and type of frags you need to hold, then consider the available space and flow in your tank. Leave enough clearance around each coral for growth and to reduce contact between neighbouring colonies. Position the rack where the frags receive appropriate light and moderate, suitable flow for their species.
Frag plug dimensions vary, so check the rack and product details against the plugs or discs you use. If you are unsure which Reef Ahoy rack suits your setup, contact us with your tank glass thickness and frag requirements.
Reef-safe 3D-printed construction
Our aquarium accessories are made using reef-safe PETG selected for use around saltwater aquariums. Magnetic models use encapsulated magnets so metal does not contact aquarium water. Learn more about our materials and manufacturing approach in the reef-safe materials guide.
Cleaning and care
Remove the rack periodically and rinse away detritus and algae. A soft brush can be used for routine cleaning. Avoid harsh household cleaning chemicals, and inspect mounts before returning the rack to the aquarium. Keeping the mounting surface clean helps magnetic and suction-cup systems sit correctly.
